I have stripped down an old Trek 4300 and replaced pretty much everything.I have spent about a week with the bike. It seems like a solid bike so far. Parts I like: Shimano RivoShift shifter, Shimano MF-TZ20 gears, HL corp Zoom fork, Artek linear pull (entire system, can adjust the pull distance on the hand levers,) seat, sparkly orange paint, 1.95" tires, KMC Z51 Chain Parts that are okay: Feimin resin pedals, Shimano rear derailleur Parts I am disappointed in: Lubrication (the wheel hubs more so than the chain and gears.) Frame material (steel instead of aluminum) Any other parts I did not mention are average parts. Assembly: 30 min if I was in a hurry. Took me maybe two hours, but I was very picky adjusting everything. Tools needed: 5 & 6mm allen, 15mm crescent wrench, an additional 15mm (socket or wrench) Extra tools I used:... I'm impressed with quality. Don't hesitate to buy. Now he can keep up on our longer rides and doesn't mind the hills as much. Great way to get them into the sport at a reasonable price. 19 of 20 people found the following review helpful By MommyofTwins (Memphis, TN United States) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase This review is from: Diamondback Bicycles 2014 Cobra Junior Boy's Mountain Bike (20-Inch Wheels), One Size, Orange (Sports) My 7 year old got this for his birthday. He is 48.5" tall and weighs 48 lbs. The gears on this one are much easier to shift than the 2013 model I saw in a local store. He is having to get used to a "real" bike with hand brakes and no back pedal brakes but that will come with time. It's a great size for him now and to grow into. Amazon was great with delivery, as always. We will likely be buying the 24" version of this for my other son this year and the 20" girl version as well. Lighter weight than the ones we looked at at Target which was great. My son wanted a "real" mountain bike with gears which is somewhat difficult to find in a 20" that is well made but doesn't cost a fortune. We love this bike! |
