Front shock sucks (but for 11 year old girl that will likely be on road no biggie). I have 3 girls and wife that needed old bikes replaced. (11, 13,15) This was 1st of 5 bikes bought and assembled for family this week. (This DB, 3 mongoose, and Gravity FS 29er-for me- 2 thumbs up on this one)I have experience with assembly so no problems. If you aren't familiar with tuning basics you might think that bike is defective. Remember you are opting to save money by bypassing the bike shop (which is where they have the experience and expertise to assure it is RTG.)
The rear derailer bracket was bent so needed to straighten. Adjusting the V brakes we're needed. Comes with a basic tool kit. Only one of the 5 bike to ship with any tools.

BE FORWARNED - if you are not used to working on bikes, you will have to have someone else assemble it for you. The written assembly instructions are REALLY BAD. But if you have repaired your own bike (like I did as a kid all the time) you should not have trouble. Took me about 45 minutes to assemble. Just because she's a little girl, doesn't mean she's an all pink wearing princess. Fact is she likes ripping around in the dirt like lots of other kids, and the Tess 24 with its durable high tensile steel frame and suspension fork is just the bike for all that fresh air fun.
